Ailing Sony to axe 20,000 jobs

Electronics giant Sony is culling 20,000 jobs worldwide in an effort to revive its flagging fortunes.

The group, hit by plunging profits and falling sales, is to cut its workforce by 13 per cent over three years.

The axe will fall hardest In Japan, where 7,000 jobs will go.
