Abbey's tumble revives bid hope

SPECULATION about a National Australia Bank tilt for Abbey National was rekindled yesterday when an ABN Amro banking analyst said sharp falls in Abbey's share price might tempt NAB to bid. Jonathan Reoch said Abbey would give NAB 'the scale, geographic exposure and product breadth it craves in the UK'.
