90 caught in police blitz on the West End

A blitz on anti-social behaviour in the West End has caught more than 90 drug dealers, muggers and other criminals, Scotland Yard revealed today.

Police seized £10,000 worth of cocaine in a raid on an address in Covent Garden and one dealer was allegedly caught with 51 rocks of crack cocaine in Tottenham Court Road.

The week-long Operation Methane saw police working with council officials to target anti-social behaviour in Soho, Covent Garden, Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia. The area was flooded with extra uniformed beat officers as well as undercover detectives and Police Community Support Officers.

On the second day two community support officers stumbled on a knifepoint robbery in Charing Cross Road and restrained two muggers.
