Liverpool will begin the defence of their Premier League title away at Leeds United after the fixtures for the 2020-21 season were confirmed on Thursday.

A remarkable 2019-20 season saw the Reds move into first place after their second game and stay there - three-month hiatus and all - helped in part with 26 wins from their first 27 games.

Come the July 27 finale, Liverpool failed to break a number of records after they looked certainties to do so, no doubt giving Jurgen Klopp and his players more impetus to make sure the title was no fluke, albeit an 18-point winning margin fluke.

Liverpool have already bolstered their all-conquering squad with the £11.75million arrival of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas, while a move for Bayern's wantaway midfielder Thiago Alcantara has also been talked about at the club.

After the visit of Leeds, it's a trip to London to face Chelsea before Arsenal come to town the following week. The first Merseyside derby, at Goodison Park, is on October 17.

November 7 sees Liverpool visit Manchester City as champions for the second time. Manchester United are opponents on January 16 after a favourable festive period sees games against West Brom, Newcastle, Southampton and Burnley.

Their season concludes at home to Crystal Palace.
