Diary of an estate agent: Liverpool Street

It's all go for our estate agent this week as she presides over a photography shoot and prepares for an important viewing with a buyer flying in from Hong Kong...

Monday

The sun is shining over the One Crown Place marketing suite in Wilson Street where I am based as the site sales manager.

First things first, I begin the day with the morning meeting. There were lots of exchanges last week, so this morning I put together a list of all the units due to exchange this week and speak to the solicitors involved, so I can keep our developer client updated.

During the afternoon, a flurry of enquiries come through social media — a result of the online advertising campaign we’ve just launched.

Most of the interest comes via Instagram and Facebook and results in a viewing booked in with an applicant who is coming all the way from Hong Kong. Social media is proving to be a great tool for connecting with interested buyers.

Tuesday

I arrive to work slightly early today as a photographer is coming in to take pictures of the new Italian furniture that has arrived for the development gallery. The Italian designer is creating bespoke fittings for all 246 apartments and the attention to detail, quality of materials and finish are incredible — it’s an honour to work with such a talented team. The photos are taken without a hitch.

The rest of the day is taken up by a couple of walk-in viewings. Both interested parties work at a nearby bank and are attracted by the prospect of such an easy commute. We schedule a second viewing for the weekend.

Wednesday

I’m busily preparing for the viewing with the buyer flying in from Hong Kong today, so it’s another early start for me. He is particularly keen on a south-facing apartment that will give him views of the spectacular City skyline. After talking him through the apartments on offer, we turn our attention to the six Georgian townhouses that will be part of the development.

Originally designed in 1810, the houses fall within the island site and are in the process of being stabilised and restored to their former glory. Once complete they will be home to a bespoke hotel and some exciting retail and foodie offerings.

The buyer is looking to move permanently to London and is here for another five days searching for a home, so we schedule a follow-up call for Friday.

Thursday

There’s a TV production company in the marketing suite doing some filming for a documentary on new skyscraper buildings today — exciting times.

They begin by setting up a lot of technical equipment, followed by some interviews with our development director and the architects behind One Crown Place, discussing the design, inspiration and construction.

The programme will be out later this year and I can’t wait to see it. It is good to be involved with something that is being recognised as such a landmark building.

Friday

Each week we report the sales activity, pipeline progression, portal listings and viewings to our developer client, so I start the day with my weekly report. I then take the scheduled call with the buyer from Hong Kong, who has spent the week searching for his new home in London.

He explains that he loves the views, the design and the amenities that the development provides and subsequently wants to offer on the south-facing apartment. The offer is accepted and agreed straight away, which is fantastic news and a great ending to the week.
