If you've seen the BAFTA-winning film Call Me By Your Name, you'll recognise the Italian villa which is the sun-kissed setting for the coming-of-age film.

The 17th-century villa in Lombardy is for sale for £1.5 million and has 14 bedrooms and seven bathrooms — perfect for long summer holidays like those enjoyed by Elio and his parents in the film.

Italian director Luca Guadagnino told Architectural Digest that he had known the house and dreamed of buying it for years.

Guadagnino eventually decided to film there instead, using it as the setting for the holiday home of a professor, his wife and their son in the feature he adapted from the 2007 book of the same name.

Call Me By Your Name last night won the BAFTA for best adapted screenplay and was nominated for three more.

It is also up for four Oscars, including a best actor award for Timothée Chalamet who plays Elio, the professor's teenage son who has a love affair with his father's research assistant Oliver, played by Armie Hammer.

Situated in northwest Italy in a small town of just 1,000 people, the house where they conduct their affair boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

The interiors include spacious rooms with wooden beams, traditional fireplaces and painted cherubs on the ceilings.

The light-filled stairways, open hallways and classic Italian shutters surround the large windows offer some shady respite from the Italian summer sun.

Traditional artwork hangs on the wall and there's even a library filled with books and featuring traditional wooden decor.

Outside, the villa boasts a turret and a Romeo and Juliet style balcony and is set in 20,000 square metres of Italian grounds.

The villa is on the market through houseloft.com.
