With the rise of the bougie boutique hotel, staycationing’s never looked so chic.

From renovated caravans to quirky hotels and townhouses, there’s plenty of interiors inspiration to be found whether you’re visiting IRL or scrolling on Instagram.

Sculptural lighting, textured headboards and vintage poster walls are among design statements you might like to mull over during a chic weekend stay, before bringing them into your home for the longterm.

Luxe hotel classics - think: four poster beds - aren’t for everyone of course, but there are ways to recreate that swish hotel feeling without wreaking havoc on your bank balance.

Try bringing symmetry to your space, two sofas facing each other rather than along walls is a cool hotel look, or scale up accessories with a larger coffee table or a grandiose light fitting.

If this half-term has had you pining for a bougie break, check out these design stays for your next real-life getaway.

Nestled in 55 acres of nature, just a 30-minute train ride away from London Birch bills itself as “looking like a hotel but feeling like a festival” thanks to the laidback lifestyle on offer once you’ve checked in. Their curated ‘cultural programme’ includes glassblowing classes to soda-bread making.

The Grade II-listed property in Cheshunt is the self-proclaimed place for “escape artists” and with Instagrammable decor like this, we can see why. Think: vast walls with bare plasterwork and colour pop paintwork, mosaic flooring juxtaposed with Industrial-style exposed pipes.

Areas on offer inside include a Wellness Centre, music room (complete with karaoke machine), two bars, two restaurants, a bakery and The Hub; an open-plan co-working and social space.

Described as ‘Pontins meets Palm Springs’, we can’t believe this chic space is a caravan.

Head down to Maragte (well, nearby Birchington) for a stay in Club Jupiter - a completely revived 2010 Willerby Bluebird that aims to make caravanning covetable.

With the soothing tones of the open-plan living space plus three themed bedrooms, the one thing that can’t be guaranteed on this classic British seaside stay? Sunshine. But with decor like this, you won’t want to leave.

@artistresidence

All the Artist Residence hotels give interior eye candy, but their Oxford space is especially impressive.

With just seven rooms this quaint thatched farmhouse-turned-pub has a bohemian twist and arty vibe - making it the perfect escape from the city.

Inside, the original inglenook fireplace, flagstone floors and timbered eves sit alongside House of Hackney wallpapers and Andy Doig’s neon signs. Go for the pub grub, stay for the interior inspo.

The real Deal: this bouji boutique hotel used to be a beaten-up boozer. Now? It’s a candy coloured riot, thanks to fashion-stylist-turned-interior designer, Michelle Kelly.

Each of The Rose’s eight rooms has its own distinct look, feel and colour palette - think pink, green and all the colours in between. Styled to perfection with bespoke headboards and jazzy table lamps.

Even if you don’t make it to the Kent coast for a stay here any time soon, well worth a follow on the ‘gram for beautiful bedroom inspiration.

@thegrovehotel

Based in Hertfordshire, 18 miles outside of London, The Grove is fondly known as the ‘country house hotel for Londoners’.

Martin Hulbert Design, who oversaw the original decoration in the ‘90s, recently dialled up the interiors for a fresh new look.

The ambitious refurb tackled all three dining spaces – The Glasshouse, The Stables and The Lounges – as well as the lobby area and all 189 West Wing guest rooms.

We’re particularly taken by The Library’s makeover, incorporating contemporary artwork in a punchy palette, plus an on-trend biophilic scheme.

@boundaryldn

More than a hotel (there’s also a bakery, food store and a rooftop restaurant), this complex is set within a former Victorian warehouse in Shoreditch.

Masterminded by Sir Terence Conran, each of the 12 rooms (and five suites) takes inspiration from an iconic 20th century designer or design movement.

You’ll spot carefully curated furnishings and decor in every one, just like this divine Eames chair.

@zettertownhouse

This eccentric Georgian townhouse gives country hotel vibes – but you’ll actually find it tucked away in Marylebone.

Owned by (fictional character) ‘wicked Uncle Seymour’, the interior design takes inspiration from nearby Sir John Soane’s Museum with decadent decor and assorted curiosites.
