Architecture on the Thames by Night Christmas special; Saturday 14 December 3pm, departing and returning to Festival Pier, South Bank; £35; open-city.org.uk

Journey down the River Thames as the sun sets and see London’s iconic and diverse architecture lit up against the night sky.

London’s leading architecture education charity Open-City have organised the Thames by Night boat tour that will depart from Festival Pier and lead upstream, taking in Battersea Power Station, before heading downstream towards Canary Wharf, underneath colourfully lit bridges including Tower Bridge.

Along the journey you’ll be able to take in works by great architects, including Somerset House, Tate Modern, The Shard, Oxo Tower and City Hall.

The 2.5 hour tour will be led by architect Benedict O’Looney who will share his in-depth knowledge of London’s architecture, while visitors can enjoy the city’s icons with some mulled wine.
