A spectacular £200,000 treehouse is set to turn the heads of royals as an eye-catching attraction at next week’s Chelsea Flower Show.

The elaborate wooden creation boasts two spiral staircases, a lounge area, fully functioning kitchen and a cosy reading nook.

Although it has no bedrooms the structure costs more than the average terraced house in the UK.

Workmen were today busy putting the finishing touches to the treehouse, which is 25-foot high and weighs one and a half tonnes.

The hand-crafted oak and cedar structure will be opened at Chelsea on Monday’s preview day by Strictly Come Dancing stars Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell. It will be open to the public from Tuesday.

Its interior design and purpose-built furniture are said to be inspired by a quintessential English country garden, with the house billed as the “the ultimate adult hideaway to rediscover your inner child”.

Simon Payne, from East Sussex-based Blue Forest, said: “Although we think of treehouses as for children, ours are more often bespoke escapes for the big kids.

“They are the ultimate adult hideaways and our clients want them to be unique to them.”

Royals due to attend Chelsea this year include the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge, who has co-designed a garden.
