A Belgravia home that once rang with the social gossip of the Queen’s party planner, Lady Elizabeth Anson, is for sale for the first time in 50 years.

The mid-19th century house, designed by George Basevi, the architect behind London’s Belgrave Square, was rented in 1958 by Princess Anne of Denmark, the Queen’s cousin, to launch Lady Elizabeth, her daughter, into society.

Lady Elizabeth has been the royals’ party planner since the Sixties, with events such as the Queen and Prince Philip’s platinum wedding anniversary last year and the Queen’s 80th birthday celebrations to her credit.

She is responsible for the most elite society soirées and has also arranged events for stars including the Rolling Stones and Tom Cruise.

In Egerton Crescent, the stucco-fronted, six-bedroom home is set over five floors with 3,434sq ft of space.

The south-facing rear garden and separate terrace are ideal summer assets. It is listed with Russell Simpson and John D Wood & Co. for £11.25 million.
