A woman has died after falling from height on a road in north London.

Officers were called shortly before 7.30am on Friday to reports a woman had fallen on the A406 North Circular in Edmonton.

Emergency services arrived and found the woman injured on the road, Scotland Yard said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and enquiries are ongoing to locate her next of kin.

Police said the eastbound A406 remains closed and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

"There are long delays in the area and drivers are urged to consider using a different route," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
