Live near the Tube in Finsbury Park: new boutique flats with green space on the doorstep and fast commutes to the city
Given its Zone 2 location and transport credentials —Piccadilly, Victoria and Overground lines plus National Rail and a big bus station — Finsbury Park should be a hotspot. But it isn’t, at least not quite.
One reason is that the three boroughs of Islington, Hackney and Haringey meet there, so the area has lacked a regeneration focus.
Most flats are period conversions but now stylish new-build apartments are sprouting up, for singles and couples who want to live where they can feel the beat of the city and also be close to a green space, in the shape of the eponymous Finsbury Park.
At 110 acres, it is bigger than St James’s Park and Green Park combined, with a boating lake, athletics stadium and tea pavilion.
The park is also the starting point of a traffic-free pedestrian and cycle route extending to Highgate Woods.
The Cottonworks, a niche scheme of 22 flats, is 500 yards from the station on the site of a former clothing factory.
The architecture draws on the area’s Victorian roots, with a mellow brick façade divided into bays.
