Harrow Arts Centre is a good reason to visit the north-west London suburb with the prestigious boarding school for boys perched on a hill.

The splendid new £17 million arts hub includes a 600-seat theatre, independent cinema, gallery, cafés, bars and performance spaces to support the area’s crop of new housing schemes. All projects are part of a Heart of Harrow regeneration initiative that is upgrading the town centre and bringing more than 5,000 new homes.

In Zone 5, Harrow has a Georgian conservation area and large interwar family houses, plus green space, good schools and quick trains to central London.
