The BBC's hit gangster drama series McMafia reaches its climax this weekend, so there's not much time left to admire the show-stopping interiors that have featured throughout.

The Kensington mews home where James Norton's character Alex Godman calls home has sent viewers scrambling to recreate the look.

But from the luxurious free-standing bath, to the stylish kitchen, the interiors are not quite what they seem.

The inside of the mews house actually belongs to House Curious founder Sommer Pyne, who rents out her Victorian Wandsworth family home for film and television shoots.

However, during filming for McMafia, the show's set designers have transformed the living space with the character of Alex Godman, an English-raised son of Russian mobster, firmly in mind.

"My house is a Victorian house and they needed it to look like a mews house. They made significant changes by adding in fake walls and windows, changed lights and added furniture and accessories throughout.

The only piece of furniture they kept of mine was the bed. In the kitchen, they covered up the brass, marble island and splash back so it looks quite different. They even put up a fake fence in our garden to make the garden appear smaller."

But it was still a treat for Australian-born Pyne to see it in the series.

"It’s a little surreal and exciting to see our house on telly and I didn’t mind seeing the actor James Norton in my bed! He must be one of the loveliest men I’ve met. So humble and down to earth. I met him on the stairs in my house when they were filming and he thanked me for allowing them to film. He also told me how much he loved my house."
