Where to eat in The Cut

10 April 2012

A top-notch chippy, a laid-back tapas bar and a gastropub with attitude are Charles Campion's picks of the best places to eat around The Cut.

Anchor & Hope
36 The Cut, SE1

This gastropub has attitude and a no-bookings policy that shouldn't be such a problem if you're eating early or late. The cooking is top drawer - good quality ingredients dealt with sympathetically. £25pp ex-drinks.

Meson Don Felipe
53 The Cut, SE1

A rather cave like and admirably laid back Spanish tapas bar, Don Felipe's house also has sound larger dishes available. A good place to chill before or after a show. £22pp ex-drinks. (020 7928 3237)

Masters Superfish
191 Waterloo Road, SE1

Seemingly on every cabdriver's favourites list, this is a very decent chippy with speedy service and freshly cooked food. Clean and comfortable. £8pp ex-drinks. (020 7928 6924)
