Tate Britain’s latest exhibition has sent London into a Van Gogh frenzy and the Rosewood London is getting in on the act with a new afternoon tea that pays tribute to the artist.

The hotel's art afternoon tea features three pastries which each look like one of the Dutch post-impressionist's most famous paintings.

The menu, from executive pastry chef Mark Perkins, includes a lemon and olive oil cake inspired by 1888 series Sunflowers. There's also a tribute to Almond Blossoms, consisting of an apricot and peach compote, a jasmine vanilla bavarois and a light blue glaze with blossom branches, while the last pastry takes inspiration from the Starry Night. A matcha sponge with a coconut cheesecake sablé biscuit is covered with a blue and white glaze to mimic the swirling clouds in the 1889 painting.

All three specials are served with traditional finger sandwiches and a savoury yellow spring vegetable tart — a nod to the artist’s favourite colour.

A new Van Gogh-inspired green tea, thé des Impressionnistes, has also been added to the Rosewood's menu, as well as an exclusive gin cocktail called The Arles Sunflowers, made with apricot puree, yuzu and Dutch spirit Bols Genever.

The art afternoon tea is available until September 20 and is priced at £60, or £70/£75 with champagne.
