The world’s best pastry chef is opening a restaurant that only serves pudding

Soho's restaurant scene will get an exceptionally sweet addition later this year.

Leading pastry chef Albert Adrià is opening a site dedicated to dessert and fizz at the Hotel Café Royal in November.

The new eatery, Cakes & Bubbles, will feature a selection of mouth-watering treats including egg flan with dark caramel, 'airwaffles' with caramelised bananas and chocolate ninoyoyaki cake balls, as well as a selection of traditional pastries.

Adrià’s new menu will also include his famous white chocolate and hazelnut cheesecake from his popular Barcelona restaurant.

The bubbles will come in the form of Champagne and sparkling wines, which will be available both by the glass and the bottle.

The cake shop and sparkling wine bar follows the success of the extended 50-day pop-up the chef ran at the hotel in 2016, and also Sarah Barber's excellent pudding-only menu that ran from March 2016 until her departure earlier this year.

The pastry chef was voted world’s best by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants back in 2015 and the swanky Soho spot will be his first permanent site outside of Spain.
