Sketch: Whimsical style, but considerable substance conquers

Seriously silly and relentlessly creative, Sketch delights on and off the plate

Sketch is less a restaurant, more an arcadia of your dreamiest dining whims.

Marshmallow chairs are sugary and velvetine: poised, elegant yet observed by the silliest of cartoon curiosities courtesy of artist David Shrigley. Entering a clearing as pretty as the Glade can only be bettered by violet armchairs and a luminous, lovingly stocked bar. And a trip to the Lecture Room and Library is not only twice Michelin-starred, but well-rouged, gilded to perfection.

Sketch is, as you can guess, quite pretty: all five bars and restaurants of it. It’s beguilingly stylish aesthetic is, however, backed up by some considerable substance. Pierre Gagnaire’s two Michelin stars at Sketch’s Lecture Room & Library are preceded by having twice earnt the coveted three Michelin star accolade in his French restaurants, all awarded for his relentless creativity and sublime finesse. At Sketch, his food is accompanied by a superb wine list orchestrated by wine director Fred Brugues.

For superlative silliness matched with seriously good food, there are few restaurants in the city that will rival Sketch.
