Ronan to set-up food zone

Teen idol Ronan Keating could soon become the Egon Ronay of pop. The Boyzone star plans to set up an online guide to bars and restaurants all over the world, writing reviews wherever he travels.

"I must have been to almost every city in the world in the six years since I started out in Boyzone," he said.

"But you often find yourself in a restaurant or a bar that's full of older people, or one that you simply don't like. I've ended up in so many dodgy bars and restaurants in so many cities. You usually have to ask someone local where the best ones are, they are rarely the ones you read about in the guidebook."

Ronan, 23, said he had been keeping his own private dossier on the places he has visited since he began travelling with Boyzone, adding: "I've got my thoughts all written down."

He said a website would be a good way in which to pass on his views.

"Good food and good red wine are hobbies of mine and I've found so many cool bars and great restaurants on my travels.

"Any time I get to a new city, I will be logging on and telling people where I've been and what I thought about it."

He is currently setting up the website and looking for investors to get involved. "The contents of the site will change from day to day. There are so many new places opening up and people don't know about them," he said.

"But I am keeping my local favourites to myself."
