Rochelle Canteen: A game-changing Shoreditch oasis

Melanie Arnold and Margot Henderson's low-key but super-stylish diner
31 January 2018

Sat on the southern side of the leafy Arnold Circus, Rochelle Canteen is an oasis hidden from the bustle of Shoreditch. Set in a converted bike shed at the Rochelle School, this low-key but super-stylish space – complete with furniture by Alvar Aalto and Ercol – was opened by Melanie Arnold and Margot Henderson back in 2004 and remains the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch, especially if you can nab an outdoor spot.

After locating the buzzer that gains you entry, expect an artsy crowd and a menu that changes daily, offering innovative but unfussy plates that champion top-end ingredients, including those grown in the adjacent garden.
