BEST FOR FEASTS: BLACKLOCK

Blacklock is all about chops — beef, lamb or pork — whacked on the grill alongside gem lettuces and sweet potatoes. But it’s also about vast portions of vanilla cheesecake (£4), which at the moment is served with a summery fruit compôte. If you’re lucky, they’ll just plonk down a whole one and leave you to devour it.

BEST FOR A SWEET TOOTH: BARBECOA

If you want a barbecue but don’t trust the London weather, Jamie Oliver’s poshest outpost is the place for you. There’s no point trying to be healthy when double pork chops, beef dripping chips and baby back ribs are on the menu, so finish off with a peanut butter and black cherry cheesecake (£8.50).

BEST FOR TROPICAL TASTES: POND DALSTON

Pond may be Hawaiian-themed but don’t expect palm trees and flower garlands — it’s far too cool for that. Instead think lovely meat and seafood with South Asian flavours: shiso, dashi and wasabi. For pud, try the black sesame cheesecake with yuzu curd, mandarin and strawberries (£7).
