Pret announces 204 more stores will reopen for takeaway and delivery next week

High street chain Pret a Manger has announced that it will reopen a further 204 stores across the UK next week.

The sandwich and coffee favourite has revealed that it will add to the 101 stores it has already reopened across the country in recent weeks.

This brings the total number of Pret stores resuming food and drink service to 305. The chain currently has more than 500 premises in the UK.

The restaurants will be open for both takeaway and delivery via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats. In line with current government guidelines, the stores will remain closed for eat-in service.

There are currently 85 Pret locations operating in London, and the new phase of reopenings will open dozens more, including three locations in Canary Wharf, two in Borough and three in Blackfriars. For the full list of Pret's currently open or planned to reopen, check their online store locator.

All the reopening restaurants will follow the same enhanced safety procedures introduced in its currently open stores, including perspex screens at the checkouts, new cleaning processes and only allowing contactless payment.

In response to the coronavirus lockdown, Pret has also launched a “Heat Me At Home” option for its macaroni cheese dishes, and is also selling its coffee beans online via Amazon.

Earlier this week, fellow chain McDonald's announced that it would be have 1019 locations open by June 4, including all drive-thrus in the UK and Ireland.
