Pret to reopen more than 70 new branches across the UK for takeaway and delivery

Pret a Manger has announced that it will increase its number of reopened stores from 30 to 100, with dozens of new locations opening across the UK next week.

The coffee shop and lunchtime favourite will reopen more than 70 new locations on May 11, adding to the stores it has already opened across London.

The capital will take the lion share of reopenings with 55 stores reopening in London, to be joined by locations in Brighton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham and beyond. The chain now also have shops open across the US, France and Hong Kong.

The locations will only be open for takeaway and delivery, with eating-in still disbanded in accordance with government social distancing guidelines.

Delivery will be available via platforms including Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats, with platforms varying between stores. At some locations, delivery will only be available from May 13.

Pret has also revealed it will launch a “Heat Me At Home” option for its macaroni cheese range, so customers can cook a well-loved Pret recipe at home.

Workers at the stores will be following social distancing guidelines, with safety measures put in place including perspex screens at the tills, enhanced cleaning processes and only allowing contactless payment.

The chain has said that reopening the stores will allow them to produce and donate more meals to those in need via its Pret Foundation associates, including the Standard’s Food For London Now appeal partner The Felix Project.
