Pergola on the Roof at Television Centre: A rooftop street food destination 50 metres above White City
A new rooftop dining destination is coming to west London, as Pergola on the Roof gets set to take over the top of Television Centre.
The iconic White City space — formerly home to the BBC staff car park — will be home to Pergola on the Roof for 14 weeks starting next month.
It will feature a host of food stalls and seating arranged around a central bar area, all sheltered beneath one of the biggest temporary pergolas in Europe.
Burger stars Patty & Bun will also make a four-week appearance, serving a range of their classics.
An 82-seat version of Portobello Road’s Electric Cinema is expected to have screenings from June 22 to August 1.
That line-up is clearly expected to make Pergola on the Roof rather popular — the 170ft high space will be capable of seating 400 people at a time, and will be open all day at weekends, and from 6pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
It will boast a hanging garden as well as scenic views over the west London skyline, and is being brought about by the team behind behind Feast food festivals and rotating residency space Market Yard nearby in Shepherd’s Bush.

The complex, now largely vacated by the BBC, is being turned into flats, a hotel, a private members’ club and cinema as well as numerous restaurants and bars.
Alistair Shaw, managing director of Television Centre, said: “Pergola on the Roof will be a destination rooftop eatery for White City residents and guests from further afield.”
Entry to the space is free and open for walk-ins, though table bookings can be made for groups of 6 people or more. It will open from 6-11pm Wednesdays to Fridays, midday to 11pm on Saturdays, and midday to 9.30pm on Sundays. It will run from May 26 until August 28.
