Instagram favourite Peggy Porschen opens second cake shop in Chelsea
Instagrammers rejoice: 'gram favourite Peggy Porschen has opened its second cake shop in London.
Founded by celebrity-favourite cake maker Peggy Porschen and husband Bryn Morrow, the new outpost opened this week on the King's Road in Chelsea, less than a mile away from the original store on the corner of Elizabeth Street, Belgravia.
Best known for its Instagrammble facades, cakes, interiors and seasonal installations, the tourist hotspot rose to social media fame after high profile A-List events, including the 2011 wedding of Kate Moss and Jamie Hince, Elton John’s White Tie & Tiara Ball, Stella McCartney’s wedding, Sir Anthony Hopkins’ 70th birthday, Damien Hirst’s auction at Sotheby’s, and parties for Sting and Trudie Styler, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Its growing popularity was cemented in stone after appearances on Instagram accounts PrettyCityLondon and Beautiful Destinations, Conde Nast Traveller and the Standard.
Like its predecessor, the new bakery enjoys a prime corner spot of Chelsea – great for taking photos – and features new dining concepts, including an all day menu and an English rose-themed private event space.
Presently, the shop plays host to its first seasonal floral display to celebrate the launch of its Easter collection. Highlights include five specially commissioned pink terrazzo tables, whimsical lighting, bunny wallpaper, a pink Annabel's-style bar and a drinks menu featuring exclusive blend tea infusions and Champagnes. The real showstopper however is the new Parlour Space; think striking visions of pink, perfect light, cake and floral galore.
