Louisiana-style street food specialist Decatur has settled in Dalston and is launching a series of monthly crawfish boils.

These boils are a longstanding tradition in New Orleans, where friends, families and whole communities come together to cook up and prepare the seafood before enjoying a communal feast.

Decatur will bring the crayfish party to London, host its first boil on Saturday June 25 at their new home Pamela.

Guests will gather around a long table clad in newspaper onto which the boiled seafood will be poured out and piled high, along with fresh corn on the cob, smoked sausage, boiled potatoes and mushrooms.

Guests can then get peeling and tucking in, dipping in garlic butter and mopping with French sticks as they go.

The event runs from 1pm to 4pm, throughout which time there will be multiple boils to ensure everyone is substantially full. This will be followed by a beignet ice cream sandwich for pudding and there will also be a few items from Decatur’s regular menu on sale — including chargrilled oysters.

Tickets are £35 and available now.
