London's best noodle bars
TONKOTSU
What: The first to make ramen headlines in London, and lovely for pre- or post-theatre trips. Any other time you’ll have to queue. Stick to the simple porky tonkotsu for £11 and you can’t go wrong.

BONE DADDIES
DOZO
What: There are two branches of this noodle bar, one in Soho and one in Kensington, but you can find good-value ramen at both. You'll find rich broths and the option to pimp up your bowls with pipettes of extra fat. T22 is good — soy ramen, chicken, cock scratchings, chicken bone broth or try the house tonkotsu or the seafood versions for under a tenner. Deliveroo now does delivery too.

KANADA-YA
What: Just arrived in St Giles, this calls itself the specialist in authentic tonkotsu ramen and this will be its first European outpost. Food here is made using special equipment, extra special flour and there’s a special secret sauce, too.

UNITED RAMEN
What: Upper Street’s latest offers a mish-mash of the Japanese original and some western flavours. On the menu are crackling miso ramen, a British bulldog roast-beef ramen with mini Yorkshire puddings and wasabi gravy and Korean-inspired 48-hour spicy miso marinated salmon kimchi ramen.
