Michelin-starred street food star Hawker Chan returns to London alongside A Noodle Story

Michelin-starred street food sensation Hawker Chan and ramen masters A Noodle Story have travelled from Singapore to give Londoners a taste of their award-winning recipes for three days this week.

Following Chan’s hugely popular visit to the capital last year, the two Singaporean street food concepts are selling some of their world famous signature dishes to lunchtime punters at Kerb King’s Cross, until March 8.

Chan, who became the first “hawker” to acquire a Michelin star in 2016, is this year serving up his char siew pork dish, having attracted huge queues when he brought his soya sauce chicken dish to the capital last year.

"I'm very honoured to get this Michelin award because it actually gives recognition to my food and it gives me opportunities to serve the best food to my customers not only in Singapore but all over the world," Chan told the Standard.

Michelin Bib Gourmand hawker stall A Noodle Story's Singapore-style ramen

A Noodle Story, which was awarded a coveted Bib Gourmand in the 2016 guide, will make its UK debut at the pop-up, serving bowls of their unique Singaporean take on Japanese ramen, with added wontons.

"For the Singapore-style ramen we use a thin, Hong Kong wonton noodle," explained co-founder Gwern Khoo, "The wontons are huge and flavourful, the noodles are springy and the eggs are like lava, they flow out. The cha-su is very smooth and tender so there you have it, it's an amazing dish."

Each stall is serving 300 portions per day of the dishes, priced at £6 each. Stalls are open from 11.30am to 2.30pm but, with queues expected, getting there early to avoid disappointment is a smart idea.

Both chefs have been brought over from Singapore to London by Singapore Airlines, Singapore Tourism Board and Changi Airport Group for a "taste of Singapore" pop-up experience.

Hawker Chan and A Noodle Story are in London from March 6-8 at KERB King’s Cross, Granary Square, N1C 4AA. For more information, visit kerbfood.com
