Gridiron unveils caviar truffle martini as part of Tom Brown and Richard H Turner's new surf 'n' turf menu

A Mayfair restaurant is set to serve what it claims is “London’s most luxurious cocktail” — a caviar truffle martini.

The £16 drink, available at Gridiron throughout July, will feature the aptly named "End of Austerity" organic vodka from Rebel Rabbet, who describe it as akin to "truffle hunting on the back of a mermaid."

The loquacious distillers make their vodka using vacuum-distilled beluga caviar and white truffle. The restaurant's bartenders will mix it with coffee liqueur, miso and clear milk blend, Exmoor caviar oil and vermouth.

The drink has been built to go with a new surf ‘n’ turf menu created by two of London’s top chefs: Tom Brown, chef patron of Hackney Wick restaurant Cornerstone, and Richard H Turner, executive chef of Hawksmoor and now holding the same role at Gridiron.

The four-course feast, which will run for one night only on Monday July 1, has been crafted using Brown and Turner’s respective expertise in seafood and meat.

Dishes will include grilled bone marrow with scrambled egg and caviar, crab crumpet with rarebit and Worcestershire sauce, and chargrilled prime rib of beef with HP and Madeira gravy.

Other highlights include a whole John Dory with chicken butter sauce, and dripping fried potatoes.

Sittings start at 6pm, with last at 10pm, and tickets are priced at £75 per head. They can be bought here.

There will also be a chef’s table, available to book for up to eight people, and a Kitchen Counter Experience, including the caviar truffle martini and a signed apron for £100. A wine pairing will be on offer for £45.
