Gordon Ramsay appears to have put a space capsule in Bread Street Kitchen

Out of this world: Gordon Ramsay has launched a dining space that looks like a spaceship

Gordon Ramsay is apparently looking to give diners an, er, truly out-of-this-world experience at one of his London restaurants – by letting them eat inside an Apollo-style space capsule.

Though not a space-themed restaurant, the City's casual Bread Street Kitchen is now home to the private dining space, which seats up to eight people within its cone walls.

The incongruous addition – styled after the kind of capsules used to bring astronauts back to earth – is called the Street Lounge, and will be bookable from tomorrow, Thursday February 14, with drinking and dining packages available from £50 per person.

Inside the publicity stunt, intrepid diners will be offered the likes of snow crab California rolls, tuna tartare, lollipop tamarind chicken wings and truffle fries, all while surrounded by a plush golden interior. Though astronauts in orbit tend to snack on freeze-dried dishes, that's not thought to be the case here.

The news comes just weeks after Ramsay announced his first major new London restaurant in over a decade, Lucky Cat, which replaces Maze and will be based on “the drinking dens of Thirties Tokyo and the Far East”.

The Street Lounge at Bread Street Kitchen is open from February 14. For more information, visit gordonramsayrestaurants.com
