Tackle the staggering six course Tuscan menu at Fabbrica

Fancy getting stuck into Fabbrica's six course Tuscan food and wine menu, or perhaps you prefer the Gallic charms of Francophile Brasserie Roux? If they're not hot enough for you, two very different restaurants are highlighting India's love affair with game this autumn...

There's a terrific deal at Fabbrica's celebration of Tuscan food and wine. A special dinner menu running between October 26 and 31 offers a staggering six courses from the region, each with matching wine. Food includes risotto al Chianti e anatra (Chianti and duck risotto), spezzatino di cinghiale (wild boar stew) and fillet of red mullet alla Livornese. And the cost? A mere £35 a head - including all the vino, coffee and cantucci biscuits.

Fabbrica, 153 Battersea Park Road SW8. Tel: 020 7720 0204. Rail: Clapham Junction

Another excellent number from Francophile Brasserie Roux: three courses including two glasses of wine (Chardonnay Chanson 2001 and Bourgogne Pinot Noir Chanson 2003), coffee and water for £24.50. There are three choices for each course in the weekly-changing menu (available lunch and dinner) but expect warm saucisson baked in brioche, game tourte with port sauce and pear tarte tatin.

Two very different restaurants highlight India's love affair with game this autumn. Mayfair's Tamarind has a selection of new dishes including salad of grilled quail with pickled beetroot, kumquats and caramelised onions in a spiced avocado dressing. Lunch is £16.95 for two courses. Over at the more accessible Mela, its game festival (until Oct 23) offers partridge kalamirch, cooked on a tawa and spiced with black pepper or bater zaffrani, quails marinated in saffron, fragranced with green chilli, mace and cardamom and blasted into tenderness in the tandoor.

Tamarind, 20 Queen Street W1. Tel: 020 7629 3561. Tube: Green Park.
Mela, 152-156 Shaftesbury Avenue WC2. Tel: 020 7836 8635. Tube: Covent Garden
