1. A very Mayfair Sunday: masala omelette — one of more than a dozen small dishes that comprise the new brunch at Benares Berkeley Square (benaresrestaurant.com)— followed by Far From the Madding Crowd at the Curzon.

2. Celebrating 10 uproarious years of Salt Yard in Goodge Street (saltyard.co.uk), smoked haddock risotto with poached duck egg and wilted spinach — and, of course, jamon Iberico de Bellota.

3. Inspired by Taiwanese restaurant Bao to explore the cuisine further, doleful Peking Duck (!) from the “Leave it to Us” menu at Taiwan Village in Fulham (taiwanvillage.com) pulled me up short.

4. Lobster, crab and shrimp pelmeni at Bob Bob Ricard (bobbobricard.com), the perfect beguiling, sassy setting for our hosts Amy Gadney and Tim Bevan.

5. In Dantesque Broadgate Circle, a Full Spanish breakfast of morcilla Iberico, mushrooms, patatas fritas, fried egg and tomato at Jose Pizarro (josepizarro.com), with the chap himself in place.
