Fay Maschler's week in food: from cured meats at The Lighterman to haddock at The Chipping Forecast

The Evening Standard's restaurant critic details the culinary highlights of her week
Evening treat: cured meats and pickles from The Lighterman
Fay Maschler8 June 2016

1. An evening’s roseate view of Regent’s Canal from The Lighterman — named after barge workers — in King’s Cross sits well with the cured meats and pickles.

2. Tuesday — cold and rainy. I am in Park Chinois with its red velvet swags and open fires eating dim sum lunch that includes crispy beancurd prawn cheung fun. Best place to be.

3. On June 15, winners of the Evening Standard London Restaurant Awards will be announced at Taste of London in Regent’s Park. Checking out The Woodford, a tissue box turns out to hold smoked candyfloss.

4. Cooked a Botterill’s Ginger Pig 100-day chicken low and slow. The genes of Cornish Game cockerel contribute alluring gaminess.

5. Boat and port are listed for the catch served at The Chipping Forecast W11. Haddock caught on the Bonnie Grace in Newlyn is accompanied by likeable minted pea purée.
