Fay Maschler's week in food, from Bocca di Lupo to Noble Rot

Juicy: Unearthed Ibérico Presa arrives at Waitrose
Fay Maschler9 January 2019

A robust slice of broccoli and Stilton quiche at the charming and blamelessly supplied Saddleback Farm Shop in Brightwalton, near Newbury.

Shaved fennel, citron and bottarga salad followed by roast teal at Bocca di Lupo, understandably packed out even in that week before life got real again.

Sweeping metropolitan views outbid grilled prawn and chestnut mushroom skewers at The Garden Room on the 10th floor of The Assembly hotel. But definitely patrician vodka martinis from the creative operator Bourne & Hollingsworth.

One of my favourite things: an early-evening movie at Curzon Bloomsbury followed by food in the bar at Noble Rot. This time radishes with smoked cod’s roe are considerably more gratifying than The Favourite.

Waitrose now stocks Unearthed Ibérico Presa. I sauté two juicy pieces, add watercress salad and am content.
