Deliciously Ella to launch The Mae Deli in Marylebone

Healthy living blogger Ella Woodward, better known simply as Deliciously Ella, has announced plans to open a deli in Marylebone.

The Instagram sensation — who has more than 617,000 followers — revealed the news to her legions of fans on her blog, writing: “I’m so excited to announce that I’m opening a deli in Marylebone! This has been the most amazing project and it’s been so hard keeping it a secret from you all for so long.”

The deli will serve throughout the day, offering food based Deliciously Ella’s philosophy of being “nourishing”, “natural” and “done in the most delicious way”.

Ella explains: “Our concept is all about mix and match rainbow bowls of goodness – think bowls of miso and sesame glazed aubergine, maple roasted sweet potatoes, wild rice and apricot salads, pesto butter beans, turmeric roasted cauliflower with lentils and tahini, butter bean dips and much more! You can then add on various types of salmon or chicken with marinades like lemon, chilli and thyme or smoked paprika and maple.”

The fact that the deli will serve meat and fish has proved controversial. Several fans have taken to the blog’s comments section and social media to (very politely) voice their disapproval.

Replying to one such comment, Ella wrote: “I totally understand that having some meat and fish isn't what everyone wants, but I'm trying to get as many people as possible eating and loving veggies, and feel that including these as sides is the best way to open people's minds up to how good veggies can be! The veggie dishes will be the main options, which I hope you will love x”.

The deli will also offer the healthier end of sweet treats.

“We’ll have freshly baked brownies, mango flapjacks, mint matcha and coconut truffles, rocky roads, energy balls and chocolate orange truffles – they’re all too delicious."

It will also stock homemade granola, chia puddings and fresh juices.

The deli is a joint venture between Ella and her fiancé Matthew. Its name, The Mae Deli is an acronym of ‘Matthew and Ella’.

An opening date or exact location is yet to be announced.
