Critic's choice: Where to eat on a terrace

10 April 2012

The weather is managing to hold out, so head to one of these three restaurants to soak up some sun...

Orrery - full review & online booking
55 Marylebone High St, W1
The Terrace at Orrery is hidden away behind the main dining room and now is open all day for simple dishes and light meals. A good value way to enjoy the cooking at one of London's senior French restaurants. £15pp ex-drinks. (020 7616 8000).

The Terrace Cafè
Somerset House, Strand, WC2
The terrace behind the Admiralty restaurant has one of the most charming views of the Thames. The menu is shorter and snackier than at the up-market restaurant indoors. £20pp ex-drinks. (07734 577047).

Phoenix Bar and Grill - book online
162-164 Lower Richmond Road, SW15
This local stalwart has a fine terrace out front. The food is "sensible Italian" and service is friendly, as befits a neighbourhood restaurant. £25pp ex-drinks (020 8780 3131).
