The world’s largest tasting menu is coming to London – made up of 200 courses.

It’s not a new opening from Heston but rather the latest quirky event from would-be Willy Wonkas Bompas and Parr, who previously constructed St Paul’s Cathedral out of jelly, made New Year’s Eve fireworks you could taste and are currently giving Borough Market visitors the chance to breathe in booze.

The 200 Club will run for one day only in Bermondsey next month, serving 200 courses across 24 hours – that means one course every 7 minutes and 14 seconds.

If you’re feeling particularly gutsy about filling your gut, you could splash out on a place at the 200 course meal for the almost as obscene price of £2000 for a pair of tickets.

But if that sounds excessive – and you don’t fancy going 24 hours without sleep – then you can also opt in for a mere 20 courses. Tickets for these come in at a more palatable £49 a pop and have the advantage of leaving you less likely to actually pop.

The ten different 20 course ‘meals’ which make up the epic 200 course feast are colour themed and include a Yellow Breakfast – which zings with citrus, caffeine and craft – right through to a Pink Dinner – buzzing with eye-popping fuschia, cured meats, and smouldering wood smoke – and a Brown Blackout – sweet, hot and savoury dishes.

Chewing the numbers reveals that the event will consist of 86,400 seconds of non-stop dining, 1,600 plates will be served and about 4,000 micro herbs will be individually hand-placed for garnish.
