Given London’s insatiable appetite for eating and drinking and the seemingly unstoppable selfie habit that’s sweeping the city a café combining the two was inevitable.

The world’s first ‘Selfie-Service Café’ will open in Covent Garden next month, allowing customers to pay for their food simply by uploading a selfie on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

That might sound like an appauling business model, but it will be around for three days only and is essentially a selfie shaped gimmick to promote Lyle’s Golden Syrup.

The sweet and sticky brand has taken over a premises on Bedford Street and will be serving breakfasts including porridge and pancakes (topped with syrup, obvs) to anyone who posts a selfie with the hashtag #SmilesWithLyles.

Visit the Selfie-Service Café pop-up between Tuesday October 6 and Thursday October 8 from 7.30 to 11.30am at 44 Bedford Street, WC2E 9HA.
