A new restaurant is ‘importing’ Italian mammas to cook for you

Just like mamma used to make it: La Mia Mamma will introduce a pretty unique concept to London

Many an Italian restaurant will claim to cook their pasta just like mamma used to make it — but does it ever taste exactly like home?

A new restaurant in Chelsea is getting you as close to nonna’s kitchen table as possible, by ‘importing’ Italian mammas to oversee the kitchen.

La Mia Mamma will invite matriarchs to join them from their native Italy, with a new mamma at the helm every season.

Each home-cooking heroine will hail from a different region of Italy, and design authentic dishes using fresh, seasonal produce — and daily made pasta — that will be available as part of Mamma’s menu.

The first mamma will be Lidia Romeo, who will be sharing dishes from her native Sicily, cooking up dishes such as arancini and pasta alla norma, served with Sicilian cocktails and Italian wines.

Look out for the special ingredient you can’t quite put your finger on, because that’s amore.
