There are daffodils out and you got through Mother's Day with aplomb. So naturally your thoughts turn towards falling to sleep in a tent pitched next to some deafening dance music.

The summer festivals have mostly announced their plans and, as ever, there's plenty to tempt you away from London. Men are already practising hoisting girls onto their shoulders while holding three paper cups of cider. Above is our pick of this year's finest weekenders, whether you're looking for one of the big ones, fancy a trip out somewhere or just want to get lost in the country.

In fact, this year's festivals are better-thaever for broad tastes: there are classic rock marathons, singer-songwriter love-ins, jazz jams and through-the-night raves.
