Adults looking for a more grown up take on their favorite childhood cookie are in luck - this year, the classic, American biscuit will be getting made-over into a sophisticated snack for grown-ups with a slimmer new look.

Parent company Mondelez International Inc. have announced that “Oreo Thins” will be included in its permanent repertoire in the US, as of next week.

Designed to satisfy that 'need-something-sweet now moment', Oreo have redesigned the biscuit for guilt-free snacking - the new silhouette counts 140 calories per four cookies vs. 160 calories per three original cookies.

So how is it possible? The biscuits will have the same biscuit to filling ratio, but have been revamped into a delicate, sophisticated and more adult sillhouette.

And other than the lessened calorie count, we can only imagine the thinner profile has been designed to limit the ritual dunking and twisting action that’s become synonymous with the biscuit - alongside a cold glass of milk.

There’s no word yet as to when the cookies will arrive in the UK, but we’ll be watching this space.
