First Look: Doughnut Time

Popular Australian doughnut brand opens first UK store in London

Australian doughnut sensation, Doughnut Time, opened the doors to its first overseas store in London.

And we were there to capture its opening at its Shaftesbury Avenue flagship store.

Starting out as a humble hole-in-the-wall store in Brisbane back in 2015, the pop culture-inspired artisan doughnut company is dedicated to producing fresh batches of hand-made, glazed and decorated doughnuts.

In honour of its new home, the doughnut dream team have crafted one bespoke British – the cult film-inspired Love Actually, a fragrant Earl Grey tea glaze with tart freeze- dried raspberries and heart shaped jammie dodgers.

The new store also offers up a range of Doughnut Time classics, from Slim Shady, a vanilla glaze with eye-popping M&Ms, to Legally Blonde, a caramel glaze with macadamia blondie pieces.

A weekly rotating menu ensures there is a flavour for everyone, with gluten-free and vegan options also available on request.

The good times will keep rolling with immediate plans to open a Doughnut Time Academy above its Soho store, giving doughnut enthusiasts the chance to showcase their artistic flair as they create, decorate and customise their own doughnut dreams into reality.

The future is looking sweet for Doughnut Time as it continues its UK expansion, with stores set to open in Old Street and Notting Hill later in the year.

Doughnut Time founder Damian Griffiths said: “We are so thrilled that Doughnut Time is hitting the UK. We believe that the unique and personal touches that we add to each and every one of our doughnuts is what makes Doughnut Time run circles around the rest.

“So we hope that our new and exclusive British creations that are tributes to the timeless classics, go down a treat with Londoners.”
