Barbican Centre, EC2, Until Sept 14 (0845 120 7550, barbican.org.uk)

An explosion of digital culture – art, design, music and video games – is celebrated in this sprawling and absorbing show. Loads of great early tech stuff for the geeks, too.

ICA, SW1. Until Sept 7 (020 7930 0493, ica.org.uk)

New art reflecting artists as chroniclers of social and political issues across the world, with film elements shown in the the ICA’s cinema and online commissions.

Hayward Gallery, SE1. Until September 7 (0844 847 9910, southbankcentre.co.uk)

If you thought figurative sculpture had all but disappeared, think again. Pierre Huyghe’s sculpture with a real beehive for a head is among the copious highlights.

Tate Britain, SW1. Until August 31 (020 7887 8888, tate.org.uk)

Brilliantly colourful and judiciously selected journey through the work of unintentional and untrained artists over the last couple of centuries.

Serpentine Sackler Gallery, W2. Until August 25 (020 7402 6075, serpentinegalleries.org)

Dave, a CGI troll covered in profane tattoos, is the protagonist of Atkins’s engrossing three-screen HD video installation. By far the best of the Serpentine’s summer shows.
