Windsor Castle drinks: Celebrate Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Wedding with this pub crawl

A royal celebration: Celebrate Meghan and Harry's big day with the Windsor Castle pub crawl
Harry Fletcher19 May 2018

In case you haven’t heard there’s a wedding taking place this weekend, with lovebirds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle due to be married at Westminster Castle on Saturday.

Millions across the land will be raising a toast to the happy couple and with pub licensing laws extended in recognition of the event, proud Brits can raise a glass (or three) into the happy couple into the early hours of the morning.

The ceremony finishes as 1pm, but where to go afterwards? Well, there are five pubs in London named the Windsor Castle, which could make perfect drinking spots for royal revellers on Saturday.

Visiting all five has the making of a pub crawl fit for a king. So, check the route below and enjoy a few cheeky pints in celebration — after all, it’s what Prince Harry would have wanted.

Chin chin!

The Windsor Castle - Marylebone

Kick things off on Marylebone’s Park Road, just a stone’s throw from Regents Park and Lord’s cricket ground. This comfortable pub is split over three floors, meaning you’re fairly likely to bag yourself a space among the crowds. The Windsor Castle will be showing the wedding from 11.30. There are special offers on pizzas here on Saturdays so either set up camp here and line your stomach or head on to pub number two.

The Windsor Castle - Lanark Place

The second stop is just a short walk away on Lanark Place, round the corner from Warwick Avenue station. This cosy spot is a perfect for a few low-key pints. Expect a friendly atmosphere, with cheery locals and a welcoming feel. The smaller size might mean you’ll be standing outside. With sun forecast all day though, that might be a blessing in disguise.

The Windsor Castle - Kensington

Hop over to Kensington for pub number three. The idyllic venue is found a short walk around the corner from Notting Hill Gate station. Step inside the pub’s charming black and white facade and you’ll find a characterful bar serving a wide selection of spirits and wines, as well as a good choice of craft beers. It’s a great spot to take stock ahead of stop number four…

The Windsor Castle - Westminster

The fourth Windsor Castle is an old fashioned boozer tucked away in a quiet street behind Westminster Cathedral. The Building is pretty grand inside and out, and the central dining room feels like the perfect place to raise a glass to the happy couple. It’s a Sam Smith’s pub too, so punters can enjoy a few rounds here without doing too much damage to the bank balance.

The Windsor Castle - Lower Clapton

Stop number five is strictly for the die-hard pub fans out there. While the first four spots form a nice route around the city, the fifth is further out in Lower Clapton Rd. It’s certainly worth the effort to get there though. The smart interiors, refined food menu and excellent wine list make it one of the most up-market pubs in the area — if you make it out, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Cheers to the happy couple!
