The Centre Page is a rather honest affair

Ideal location: The Centre Page

If you wanted an area of real estate for a pub, the steps of the Millennium Bridge next to St. Paul's is hard to beat. Monday-Friday it's a handy one for local workers and at weekends you're guaranteed a passing tourist trade heading between St Paul's and Tate Modern (and being on a lane called "Knightrider Street" no doubt some curious German David Hasselhoff fans as well).

We've seen this one hail itself as a "Famous Dickensian Pub", but the Horn Coffee House that used to be here only gets a brief mention in "The Pickwick Papers". Aside from the cheeky sign though, this one's a rather honest affair. A pretty standard range of fare, but they've organised the space well, with old fashioned booths at the side offering a little privacy from the rest of the pub (and there's more space downstairs too).

Not a classic, but a decent effort all the same. And one oddity to its furnishings: given the proximity to passing families on the tourist trail, its rather eye-raising to see some titillating Victorian prints adorning the walls here.
