London has its fair share of brilliant drinking spots but next month something new will arrive in the capital — a tiny tea shop, cocktail bar and literary salon all rolled in one.

The new venue, Teatulia, is set to open on Covent Garden's Neal Street, on Monday October 1.

During the day, it will serve six different types of tea, at £3 for a cup or £5 a pot, while in the evening there'll be tea-inspired cocktails created by renowned mixologist Enrico Gonzato of Dandelyan. Highlights include the Builder’s Bourbon and a Lemongrass Mojito, though there are mocktails including the Chai Spiced Hot Toddy.

The intimate spot will have space for 16, complete with a vinyl player for customers to play records on.

Teatulia will also boast a ‘Living Bookshelf' every month — a selection of books put together by famous writers, actors, musicians and filmmakers. The first bookshelf will be curated by British actress Tilda Swinton.

Swinton said: “Reading and tealeaves go together like breathing in and breathing out. Go slow. Take time to brew yourself some harmony.”

The new venue will also be the first tea shop in the capital to have total ownership of its provenance, with very tea leaf on the menu hand-picked from the Teatulia garden in northern Bangledesh.
