AA Pick of the Pubs 2020: Just 24 London spots make the cut

The AA has revealed its selection for the best 550 pubs in the UK, with just 24 London establishments making the cut.

The organisation's Pub Guide 2020 details drinking and dining spots across the UK, with 550 selected for the 'Pick of the Pubs' recommendations.

The guide appears keen on gastropubs, with more than 250 of those in the guide boasting AA Rosettes for the quality of their cuisine.

London spots like the The Culpeper in the City, The Drapers Arms in Islington and The Harwood Arms in Fulham were all recommended, which all have reputations for excellent food.

The Gun in Docklands, Parson Green favourite The White Horse and Highgate pub The Flask were also among those selected.

Oxfordshire was judged to have the strongest selection of boozers, with a total of 33 pubs recommended. Devon (32) and Somerset (26) were second and third respectively. London was tied fourth with North Yorkshire.

It comes after the Top 50 Gastropubs Awards were announced earlier this year, with The Harwood Arms named the best example in the capital.

CAMRA also recently revealed their National Pub of the Year for 2019, naming a Hampshire boozer that had been derelict as recently as 2015.
