London bars offering Easter themed cocktails - including Creme Egg martini

How do you like your martini? Dry? Sweet? With a creme egg in it?

Some of Regent Street’s top bars and restaurants are getting into the Easter spirit by serving themed cocktails for the next two weeks.

The Hotel Cafe Royal's Green Bar has designed the Cadbury’s Creme Egg cocktail, which shakes up the traditional martini by mixing Pampero Especial Rum with Disaronno and home-made chocolate liquor. The drink costs £14 and is topped with a cream, egg white and sugar mix — to represent the white of the egg — and an egg yolk and icing sugar mix. It also comes served with a Creme Egg on the side.

Bar manager Antonio Catapano, 31, said: “I couldn’t mess around with the taste of a Creme Egg. So we had to do something different with the martini itself. That’s why it is made from rum.”

Bar staff at Gordon Ramsay’s Heddon Street Kitchen have created the Bunny Boiler Maker cocktail — a twist on the traditional boiler maker, which is a pint of beer served with a shot. Costing £10, it combines Monkey Shoulder Blended Scotch, Creme de Cacao, egg yolk and bitters, with a caramel basket and mini eggs on top and a shot of London Meantime Chocolate Porter on the side.

Brasserie Zédel, Frescobaldi, Momo, Mash and The East India Company are also offering Easter-themed cocktails until April 12.
