Craft beer comes to Kensington as The Hansom Cab relaunches

The team behind The Dean Swift are coming to W8
Craft beer cometh: The Hansom Cab

Kensington is not an area that’s abundant with craft beer. In fact, it currently lags behind much of central London when it comes to pints of the good stuff.

But that is all set to change when the Local Beer House group, which runs The Dean Swift in Bermondsey, Old Red Cow in Smithfield and Hack & Hop on Fleet Street, moves in.

The team specialise in serving big ranges of craft beer in comfortable ‘proper’ pubs, and have taken over The Hansom Cab that sits between Earl’s Court and High Street Kensington for location number four.

It has currently shut for a refurb and will re-open on May 10 with gastro grub and beers galore to bring the offering in line with the other Local Beer House sites.

It will see in a new era for the pub, which has been trading on the site since 1827, and is now in its 190th year.

The new-look boozer will feature a downstairs bar with 12 keg and 5 cask lines plus a big bottled beer selection, and an upstairs dining room serving pub classics made from seasonal produce.

Though further details are yet to be revealed, the Local Beer House group has excellent pedigree.

Not only do all three of their existing sites feature in our pick of London’s best craft beer pubs, but they also all rank in our top Sunday roasts in London list and The Dean Swift does a mean brunch.

Sounds like a good reason for Kensington folk to get a round in.
