Cocktail Trading Co. - bar review

From smoked marshmallow syrups to candyfloss sticks, cocktails are served with a kitsch flourish at this Central London bar
Lounge feel: wood panelled walls and dim lighting create a cosy environment

What they say: A fun, laid-back and unpretentious place to enjoy quality cocktails in Central London.

What we say: A secret London bar featuring vintage Victorian interiors decorated with modern art from young artists and where monkey nuts are served by the pint, drinks are garnished with smoked marshmallows syrup and guests are watched over by Winston Churchill.

Fun fair fun: Tu-Whit-Tu-Woo-Woo cocktail

Order: If you want to play it safe the bar offers traditional tipples from Mojitos to Daiquiris, but if you fancy a quirkier combination try the Sauvignon Private Ryan, served in a ration tin and made up of Calvados, dry Sherry, and sauvy B, or the Stoli vodka and Prosecco Tu-Whit-Tu-Whoo-Woo served in an owl mug with a stick of candyfloss.

Good for: A date, or those looking for a quiet drink in a bar where there is more than a glass of wine to wet their thirst.

By the way: If you feel Wednesday is the new Friday then head down mid-week when the bar’s resident pianist pounds the keys to a mix-up of hits from Backstreet Boys to Frank Sinatra.
